Artwork > Animals Series

I feel a strong connection to the artists of the Northern Renaissance and their approach to art from the standpoint of becoming a master craftsperson. My work has been influenced by an array of printmaking artists among them Albrecht Dürer, Francisco Goya, and Hans Holbein the Younger. Their images documenting personal experience, social hierarchy, and people as darkly psychological beings have always held my attention. I find inspiration in what I see as these artist’s unmasking of the selfish intent laying within altruism or revealing the brute behind the human intellect. Influenced by children's cartoons, parables, fairy tales, and animated films. These images are a satire of personal experience and social observation. I use a nonlinear narrative in this body of work as a device to examine elements of my own nature. Also as away to look at the contradictions inherent within emotions and actions.
